Our client is a global defence, aerospace and security company with over 80.000 employees worldwide. The Company delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and support services.

We are now looking for a qualified and experienced Lecturer in Mechanical/ Marine Engineering to work on an initial 6-month contract, with possibility of extension/renewal.

The successful candidate will execute the delivery and development of a range of Mechanical Marine Engineering courses, including the Saudi Maritime Apprenticeship (SMA) and the Diploma in Marine Engineering, at the NMA Jubail Campus.

The post holder will be required to develop and deliver lessons and teaching packages that are efficient, engaging, and achieve high levels of learner success.  These teaching packages must be compliant with a range of awarding bodies and competent authorities, including the College of Excellence (COE), the Technical and Vocational Training Core (TVTC) and other international accreditations as appropriate for the programme.

The post holder must be qualified in a Mechanical or Marine Engineering related discipline and have the industrial experience to assist in contextualising the course content.

 The post holder will be expected to deliver 1400 hours of teaching per annum (pro-rated for the duration of the contract).

The post holder will support the NMA Academic Management Team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mechanical/Marine Engineering and undertake duties associated with the broader learner experience across the academy as required.

Key roles and Responsibilities 

  • To lead and inspire learners to be creative and innovative in all aspects of pedagogy and to embed blended learning and meta-skill development opportunities within their lessons.
  • To be accountable for the delivery of teaching and learning and ensuring it is of the highest standard and responsive to the needs of their learners, including:
  • Establishing and maintaining high levels of professional conduct.
  • Improvements in the quality of teaching and learning delivered, through internal verification.
  • Ensure learners receive regular and effective feedback on their performance.
  • Assess and record learner achievement.
  • Assist in learner guidance and support.
  • Ensuring that the targets for the improvement in quality of learning, teaching and attainment are achieved
  • Delivering and sustaining improvements in learner achievement.
  • Assisting in the discipline of learners at the academy through appropriate supervision and challenging behaviours as a front-end response.
  • Assist the development of a curriculum focused on meeting industry needs.
  • Update and maintain learner records and reports as required.
  • Ensuring that the targets for learner retention and achievement are achieved.
  • To assist the Curriculum Manager in achieving their operational plan and the delivery of the NMA’s curriculum provision targets.
  • To assist the Curriculum Manager in the deployment and enhancement of the QMS that meets the needs of the Industry, NMA and the awarding bodies, by providing SME input.
  • To assist the Curriculum Manager in the deployment and development of a PMS for all teaching and learning equipment within the area of responsibility.
  • To assist the Curriculum Manager in meeting awarding body requirements and achieving awarding body approvals.

 

The Candidate must have the following:

  • Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
  • Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) issued, management level Engineering certificate of competence is desirable but not essential.
  • An appropriate teaching qualification (minimum train the trainer).
  • Experience of delivering dynamic, creative and innovative learning experiences.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with individuals and customers at all levels (internal and external).
  • A strong sense of purpose and proven experience of exceeding goals.
  • The ability to meet delivery targets.
  • Excellent ICT Skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • English native speaker or IELTs Level 7 or equivalent.

 

It is desirable for the post holder to have:

  • Teaching experience in a vocational or tertiary education centre.
