Our client is a global defence, aerospace and security company with over 80.000 employees worldwide. The Company delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and support services.

We are now looking for a qualified and experienced Principal Commercial Officer to join the organisation based in Saudi Arabia, working across the Operations in Riyadh. This is an initial 12-month contract, with possibility of extension/renewal.

The role significantly contributes to the management and delivery of current and future commercial activities (Within Bid Management and Contract Delivery phases), and provides support to the business teams to facilitate and maximise business performance in line with agreed targets.

Previous experience and understanding of Commercial and Procurement responsibilities within an Aerospace Organisation is essential. An understanding of Military Aircraft, the aerospace business,  Logistics Support and tailored Support Solutions would be extremely beneficial.

The ideal candidate should be able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision, be pro-active, diligent, have strong team-working and communications skills and be fully committed to a delivery culture.

Key roles and Responsibilities 

  • Produce a full range of contractual documentation for assigned areas in line with all relevant requirements and procedures
  • To draft agreements, liaise with Legal Department and participate in and support others in contract negotiations with all relevant parties to facilitate the smooth and successful conclusion of negotiations.
  • Manage standard contract and contract activities effectively, ensuring the swift and effective resolution of issues.
  • Assist in the development, co-ordination and implementation of pricing and payment strategies and policies in assigned areas, in accordance with all relevant requirements and procedures.
  • Assist in the development, co-ordination and implementation of overall financial targets and budgetary management strategies in assigned areas.
  • Identify potential areas of risk and carry out risk analyses and assessments to support the minimisation of risk.
  • Contribute to building, managing and maintaining relationships in existing and future customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements and contracts from the cradle to the grave.
  • Provide advice and guidance on commercial, contractual and legal issues to facilitate effective business decision-making and the effective resolution of issues and disputes, including customer complaints in liaison with Legal Department where necessary.
  • Monitor all relevant commercial activities – including terms and conditions and price negotiations – to ensure that quality and cost are maintained to enable contractual obligations to be met.
  • Lead, develop and motivate any assigned staff to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their responsibilities.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining commercial procedures and policies, and implement them in assigned standard areas to support improved business effectiveness.
  • Keep up to date with and research new commercial developments in assigned areas and assist in assessing their advantage to the company.

  

The Candidate must have the following:

  • Degree or equivalent vocational qualification preferable and c. 3 to 5 years’ experience within a Commercial position.
  • The ability to work alongside and to draft and negotiate agreements with external vendors to conclusion.
  • The ability to work across functional areas with multiple internal and external stakeholders in Bid Management and Contract Delivery is essential
  • Track record of contributing to the management of complex business issues
  • Wide ranging experience of dealing with customers and suppliers in the UK, KSA and overseas
  • Extensive knowledge of business unit policies used by SMSCMC or by its parent company BAE Systems (or a comparable equivalent).

 

It is desirable for the post holder to:

  • Experience with Logistics Support and Support Solution Contracts is desirable.
